Fluor Senior Fellow Cathleen Shargay will discuss reactor effluent air cooler (REAC) corrosion mechanisms, detail innovative mitigation strategies and share the findings of her recent literature survey.
Cathy has more than 35 years of experience in metallurgy, welding, corrosion control, materials selection and fabrication. Her background includes failure analysis, technical consulting, specifications development, corrosion control documents and practical field support.
Cathy is active in industry societies, primarily the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) and the American Petroleum Institute (API). She received a NACE Technical Achievement Award and an appointment as chair of the NACE T-8/STG 34 refinery corrosion group. She has chaired NACE and API task groups responsible for writing industry practices and has authored more than 60 publications in her field.
